About Dalavich
The name Dalavich originates from Gaelic and means "meadow or valley of the River Avich". There are records regarding Kilchrenan and Dalavich going back as far as 1791. It is possible to view an interesting account of Kilchrenan and Dalavich at this website: Statistical Accounts of Scotland this particular account was written by the Rev. Mr. William Campbell in 1791.
The Parish of Kilchrenan and Dalavich was created in 1845 but it was then abolished in 1975. Dalavich was built as a forestry village in the 1950s. Holiday cabins were built by the Forestry Commision who successfuly managed the site until the decision to sell off the land in 2003. The holiday cabins have new owners who let their cabins out to holidaymakers throughout the year.
The Dalavich Village Hall and the Dalavich Social Club are an integral part of village life, and there has been a Social Club and Village Hall in the village since the 1970s. In 2002 The Dalavich Improvement Group was formed and with the aid of grants were able to buy the Dalavich Village Hall. The Dalavich Improvement Group directors aim to ensure the success of the Dalavich Village Hall and it's Social Club, the Social Club has it's own committee, and working together they have made a social environment that is enjoyed by residents and holidaymakers alike.

Walk to Avich Falls
The walk to Avich Falls commences from the Barnaline Car Park, it is graded as being an easy walk to the falls on foot. The length of the trail is approximately one and a quarter miles and the time it takes to walk the trail is 45 minutes, depending of course how quickly you want to do it in.
On reaching the falls there is a seating area where you can sit at your leisure watch the beauty of the falls as they fall over the stones and rocks. The falls are spectacular on rainy day.

There are many more forest walks and they are maintained by the Forestry Commission. The wildlife that inhabit the forest include, Red Squirrels, Pine Martins, Woodpeckers and many more if you are lucky enough to spot them.
